This isn’t my Hobby


I went in to get an MRI yesterday on my knee (I injured it many years ago while playing soccer and it may be time to get in cleaned up).

For those of you who haven’t had an MRI before, let me explain how it works. You lay down on a table that goes into a big donut (mmmm donuts), then there is a lot of loud noise while you chill there for 30 or so minutes.

While I lay there, I found that my mind started to wander…

Though I bounced around from thought to thought, the topic was always the same.

Health.

Whether health and strength of the body, the mind, or the muscles themselves, 30 minutes of uninterrupted contemplation, introspection, and, hopefully, innovation.

I realized at the end that this wasn’t an isolated incident. This is the same line of thinking I wander through when I go out for a walk, do Savasana in yoga, or when I am in bed before I fall asleep.

I don’t do this because I feel like I have to–I do it because I can’t imagine doing anything else.

This isn’t my hobby.
This isn’t even really my business.

This is just who I am.

This realization brought with it a kind of clarity that I could only wish everyone else would find.

Purpose.

In the past 3 days, I’ve received more positive feedback and stories of success about Ultimate Athleticism than I can even count. Each story I hear only reinforces this clarity of purpose. And I love it.

I don’t have all the answers, but I’m going to keep thinking and evolving with time. I relish in the opportunity to share any of these experiences with as many people as possible, and help them achieve just as much, if not more, than I do myself.

    Hey Bud, great post! We are constantly interrupted with noise throughout the day. Everywhere we go and with everything we do. Unless we consciously make the time to be free from it – whether its meditation, going for a walk, laying down… Something I think you may find some value in is a sensory deprivation (aka float) tank. I've heard Joe Rogan talk about them forever and I finally tried one a few weeks ago. Then went again. Because of the lack of sensory input from a number of external sources, I was truly able to explore my thoughts and came to some profound conclusions and answers in my life. I know you value alone time to brainstorm, daydream etc, so this is something I believe you'll really benefit from!
